Lion
Wives
The power
behind the Roar
People often ask,
what about the wives? Why aren't they members of the Ponderosa Lions?
They seem to do an awful lot of work on their husbands behalf. All true,
they are often the cooks and organizers behind our monthly potlucks.
They are the unsung heroes of the club. Let's learn a little more
about these mystery women.
A
majority of the wives belong to the Sierra Women's Service Club.
The Women's Club
was founded in 1958 (9 years before our club chartered). They have
2 big events a year and the funds raised are put back into the
community. Like the Lions, they are a very active and important part of
the community. They give scholarships to graduating seniors, they
provide help in times of need,
they donate to many local charities that benefit our community. They are
a wonderful group of ladies, and I'm not saying this because they talked me into joining a couple of years ago. Okay,
that may have influenced me a little, but seriously, they really are
great.
They meet on the
second Tuesday of each month (Sept-May), they have yummy snacks, often
have a speaker or presentation, they conduct business important to the
club, and most of all they provide a sense of fun, friendship and
camaraderie to their members.
Below is a link to
pictures of some of our marvelous Sierra Women's Service Club members.

In the meantime,
we'll keep pressing them, a few are bound to join eventually with the
new family membership discount option.....Two down, the rest to go.
Think baby
steps....
